Since 2018, he has served as the Cardiothoracic Lead for the National Service of Complex Aortic Surgery in Scotland, bringing a wealth of expertise to treating and managing aortic conditions.

Dr. Giordano began his career in 2011 when he moved to the UK and joined the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He also completed the Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) course certification. In 2012, he transitioned to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as a Specialty Doctor, where he worked on various elective and emergency surgeries. He also contributed to cardiac and aortic surgery research, attended multi-disciplinary meetings, and was involved in discussions concerning mortality and morbidity.

By 2015, Dr. Vincenzo had secured a position as a Locum Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Royal Infirmary. This role allowed him to perform surgeries independently, which he continued following his permanent appointment in 2017. Since then, he has performed over 1900 cardiac and aortic surgeries, averaging more than 200 cases yearly. His surgical expertise covers many procedures, including total arterial myocardial revascularisation, ECMO implantation, aortic valve repair, and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair. He is also part of the Scottish National Thoraco-Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Complex Aortic Service, which provides specialized care for aortic conditions.

In 2020, Dr. Giordano introduced a port-access technique for aortic valve replacement via a mini right anterior thoracotomy, making his institution the first in Scotland to implement this method. He has also been deeply involved in the national TAVI program since 2012, helping to develop surgical access methods and leading efforts in quality improvement within his department, including creating new protocols and implementing audits.

Dr. Vincenzo introduced the Frozen Elephant Trunk (FET) procedure to Scotland, where over 70 surgeries were performed using this technique. He is committed to educating the next generation of surgeons and actively participates in workshops and conferences. He is a member of various professional societies, including the European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain & Ireland.

Dr. Giordano received his medical degree from the University School of Medicine in Brescia, Italy, in 2005 and completed his residency in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Milano Bicocca. His career includes fellowships at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Medisch Spectrum Twente in the Netherlands, where he further refined his skills in minimally invasive surgery.

Born in 1980 in Bergamo, Italy, he was inspired by his father, a cardiac surgeon, to pursue a career in medicine. His passion for surgery and strong work ethic continue to guide his professional life. Dr. Vincenzo Giordano remains a distinguished figure in cardiothoracic surgery, particularly in aortic surgery, and significantly contributes to the field.
